Older Adult Dental Program

Beginning in July 2022, New Hanover County Health and Human Services and the Senior Resource Center in partnership with Access Dental Care, Inc. will be providing a new dental program for low-income older adults age 55 and older, who do not have dental insurance.

The older adult dental health program will provide comprehensive dental care. Typical services may include; dental exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, select root canals, dentures, and partials. The program will provide services as defined by the clinical coverage policy, 2022 NC Dental Medicaid.

This comprehensive dental program will be offered at various locations within New Hanover County. Locations are to be determined, so please stay connected for program updates.

To be eligible for the Older Adult Dental program, you must be:

  • Age 55 or older
  • New Hanover County resident
  • Income is below 200% poverty level
  • Have no current dental insurance, including:
    • No Medicare Advantage plans that include dental coverage
    • No employer dental coverage
    • Does not qualify for full Medicaid

Applications for the Older Adult Dental program require:

  • Government-issued ID
  • Proof of residency:  Utility bill (i.e. power bill) or tax bill
  • Proof of Income: Social Security statement, bank statement, or paycheck stub
