The opioid crisis has had a profound affect on New Hanover County and the people who live here. This website was created by the county’s Public Health Department to provide important information and resources to help fight the opioid crisis. Our hope for this site is to offer the most relevant information on prevention, harm reduction, and treatment and recovery. Whether you are interested in learning how to engage in community efforts, or are struggling with addiction, have a friend of family member who is, or you are a doctor, law enforcement officer or a concerned citizen – there is information on this website for you. As you navigate the opioid crisis in our community, we hope this website can serve as a reminder that each of us has a role to play in fighting the opioid epidemic. – Director of Public Health, Phillip Tarte, MHA
